	United Arab Emirates – An Overview The strategic importance of Dubai as a regional hub has and is rapidly increasing. Much of the inbound sea cargo to the Arabian Gulf Countries is transshipped through Jebel Ali. Jebel Ali has also succeeded in becoming a major distribution center for the Gulf as well as East Africa, the CIS, North Africa and East Mediterranean. There is also an increasing manufacturing base in Jebel Ali. Today there are more than 4000 companies represented in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
	Dubai and Sharjah airports have long handled significant volumes of sea-air cargo and the importance as air-cargo hub is increasing again, following the resurgence of Asian Economies. Dubai has invested heavily in an airport free zone and a ‘cargo village’, very much along the same concept as Jebel Ali. These initiatives, along with fast and cost effective handling, have made Dubai successful in increasing the number of airlines using Dubai as hub for most of the region.
	As the developments outlined above continues, so will the importance of high quality logistics in the UAE increase.
